Let ChatGPT Know You

ChatGPT’s Custom Instructions are a game-changer in getting responses by your voice or persona. Because instead of ChatGPT guessing what context to use, it knows.

And that’s incredibly useful to have first-round responses closer to your wanted outcomes.

For example, asking As me, write a social media post introducing Axelerant without Custom Instructions leads to a very impersonal response.

Yet, asking the same thing and Custom Instructions are included, the following response is a world of difference.

Custom Instructions have a 1,500-character limit each for context and response guidance. And while that doesn’t seem like much, it’s a feature to keep ChatGPT focused.

ChatGPT can lose your desired context and provide unfocused responses when too much information exists.

ChatGPT’s Custom Instructions are found as part of your profile.

The first part of Custom Instructions asks your usage context: What would you like ChatGPT to know about you to provide better responses?

My ChatGPT usage context.

I reached the above format through research and experimenting because I use ChatGPT for personal and professional situations.

The specifics of response preferences are essential to create a consistent voice for responses. This means that my perspective remains the same even when dealing with new subjects.
