Three cats, tails flicking, ears back — battle imminent. Or is it?
One pounces, another dodges, the third watches, poised. It looks like chaos, but watch closely — there’s no real malice. Just play. They chase boredom away, engage, and interact.
How often do we do the same? Not in feline brawls (hopefully), but in how we perceive the world. We see a moment, a glance, a tone — and assume.
We attach meaning before understanding. Even when directly involved, we don’t always get it right.
Our filters, experiences, and biases shape our understanding more than reality.
When Perception Overrides Reality 🔄
We let familiar interpretations dictate how we see things. A sigh from a friend? Annoyance, we assume. A late reply? Disinterest. An awkward moment?
They must not like us.
But what if that sigh was exhaustion, the late reply was a packed schedule, and the awkwardness was mutual?
Assumptions are shortcuts, but they often take us the wrong way.
Pause Before Judgment 🔍✨
Before reacting, we can ask:
- What am I feeling, and why?
- What do I actually know versus what I’m assuming?
- What else could be true?
Self-awareness is a superpower.
Without it, we let unchecked feelings and snap judgments rule our days.
With it, we gain clarity, strengthen relationships, and navigate life more easily.
Choose Curiosity Over Certainty 🤔❤️
Like those cats who seem to fight but are really playing, we can step back from our assumptions.
Instead of deciding, we can observe. Instead of assuming, we can ask.
Because life — like a cat’s sparring — isn’t always what it seems.
So, tell me: When was the last time you made a completely wrong assumption? What did you learn? Drop a comment — I’d love to hear your thoughts! ⬇️😊
