Today was a win in the truest sense: I cycled with my stepson, Sean, to Qionglin and shared a meaningful conversation about his educational future in the United States. Watching him listen intently and engage thoughtfully was a gift, reinforcing how much he values these moments of guidance and connection.
Huan and I want Sean and his brother to feel deeply loved and supported, knowing that every decision about their future is rooted in their own clarity and empowerment. Today’s conversation reminded us of the power of being present and offering support while giving them the space to grow.
Yet life, like the ride itself, wasn’t without its bumps. The persistent creak from my bicycle’s bottom bracket underscored how important it is to address the small things before they escalate—both in bike maintenance and life. I’ll resolve it alongside striving to fine-tune the balance of guidance and independence in parenting.
Reflecting on this day, I feel immense gratitude. It wasn’t just about cycling or offering advice but creating space for trust, connection, and growth with my stepson. These moments remind me why I value the journey as much as the destination.
